Salam...


Actually a few of my friends asked my this.. how to set up the .com thing..


Well, to set up the .com is actually pretty simple.


(oh ya, forgot to mention, this tutorial is meant for Blogger.com blogs ya! for wordpress, that'll be a different story... )

Now, log in you Blogger account..

At the dashboard, find Setting

then.. find Publishing

Search for : Advance Setting (Need a domain? Buy One Now)

So, click there..

You will have something like this :

Now, you'll need a domain name.

"Domain" is : this-is-what-they-call-domain.com so, in other word, your URL is the domain name.

If your choice of domain name is already taken, you may get something like this:

But.. if your domain name is still available, you will get this :

Next, you will proceed to the payment part.

You need a credit card for this transaction.

The cost is USD$10 per year.. (so if convert to Malaysian Ringgit, it will be RM35.00, and it will appear in your credit card statement..)

Next is the waiting..

You will have to wait... and wait.. if i'm not mistaken a few days, for the process and all that.

If everything went well, then when you type (like my former blogpsot address : aliaathirah.blogspot.com) and press enter, then it will automatically change from the blogspot to http://www.my-alia.com/ . SO, after a few days when you purchased the domain, you can try to do the same test.. if it automatically change the blogspot url to your .com url, then it is done!Understood..? :)

Ok, that was the first step. the domain.

now, a friend of mine asked me, how to have a bigger memory storage area (or something like that..) to tell you the truth, that part i haven't really explore actually.

It is just that from what i know (ok, this part if anyone out there would like to help me out, i would be most grateful!).. from what i know, there are 2 choices (in terms of storage):

-the free one

-the paid one

The free one : there are a few websites that allow you to upload for free : like Flickr.com, Picasa.com just to name a few. however, they also have a limit to your uploaded photos. Such as Picasa, they provide 1 GB only. But they offer if you need more, like 10GB, then you have to pay (USD$20 per year)

-The paid one: oh.. nama pun berbayar.. i would recommend this company : http://www.internet-webhosting.com/ who offers storage [and domain too!] (ada pakej.. boleh pilih..) but i haven't really explore the idea of just paying for the hosting ONLY.. oh ya, internet webhosting offers monthly bandwidth 20 GB, at only RM80 per year.. (ah sudah.. mempromote free nampaknya.. )

WARNING!!!! Just a little reminder.. nak beritahu ni.. supaya u all tidak terjebak macam saya..

Dulu (x la dulu sangat pun.. last year je pun), saya dah beli http://www.my-alia.com/ dari blogger.com dan semua berjalan lancar.. cuma, tiba-tiba saya nak tukar 'hakmilik' domain dari blogger kepada internet-webhosting tersebut. Masalah yang timbul ialah Blogger tidak mahu dan tidak akan melepaskan client dia.. so saya banyak kali minta nombor (nombor pin atau something like that) yang membolehkan pihak internet-webhosting ni continue servis dia dengan kita.. tapi sampai sekarang si blogger.com ni x bagi-bagi pun.. so kesimpulannya.. kalau nak beli domain, fikir dahulu ya! :) other than that, ok je.. x da masalah apa pun.. in fact kalau ada masalah, boleh ke Blogger Help Group.. insya Allah they will solve any problem that you are facing.. :)

So i guess (and i hope i answer the questions..) kalau ada soalan, sila tanya ya! tq..
